Fecal Impaction Vs. Constipation

Constipation and fecal impaction is not the same thing. Many people think that they are the same. While they both involve the intestines, bowels and fecal matter, they are two different problems that have to be treated differently.

Constipation is the term used to describe slow moving feces or stool through the intestines. The longer it takes for fecal matter to be eliminated from the body, the drier and harder it will become. Symptoms of constipation include passing small, dry hard stools, a feeling of incomplete evacuation, straining, fatigue, bad breath, skin eruptions, abdominal pain, hemorrhoids and irregular bowel movements.

Fecal impaction is the term used to describe a large mass of hard stool or fecal matter that is “stuck” in the rectum. Symptoms of fecal impaction may be similar to constipation symptoms. However, in addition to those symptoms the individual may have bladder problems, back pain, nausea, vomiting, dehydration, a distended abdomen, a rapid heartbeat, sweating, fever, dizziness and even high or low blood pressure. Individuals who have a fecal impaction may also experience very explosive diarrhea. This diarrhea does not remove the impaction, it moves around the impaction.

Constipation can be very uncomfortable and annoying. Fecal impaction is far more dangerous than constipation. Fecal impaction can be life threatening. Fecal impaction that is not treated can worsen and the individual could possibly die from it.

Constipation can be caused by numerous things including not eating enough fiber, not drinking enough liquids, a lack of exercise, certain medications, changes in lifestyle or routine, ignoring the urge to move your bowels, abusing laxatives, irritable bowel syndrome, pregnancy, traveling and other various reasons.

Fecal impaction can be caused by ignoring constipation, pain medications, illness and long term use of laxatives. Many people are surprised to learn that prolonged use of stimulant laxatives can lead to fecal impaction, but it is true. With prolonged use the colon can become dependent upon the laxative to aid it in evacuation. When the colon has been exposed to laxatives and stool softeners for a period of time and then it does not get the expected dose, constipation and fecal impaction can occur. To put it simply, prolonged laxative use can make your body forget how to move and evacuate fecal matter on its own.

If constipation is not addressed and an individual develops fecal impaction it cannot be treated as easily. Fecal impactions in the rectum must be removed manually by a medical professional.

Constipation should be addressed at its onset to prevent a fecal impaction. Steps to alleviate constipation can include making changes in the diet, drinking an adequate amount of water, exercising and doing a colon cleanse. Tips to aid in stool evacuation include the following:

When you are sitting on the toilet, it is important that you do not hold your breath when you are trying to eliminate a stool. A good constipation tip is to breathe in your nose and out through your mouth. Holding your breath while you are trying to pass a stool can actually hamper the elimination process because it closes up the bottom. Learn how to push without straining. When you have placed your feet on the stool, simply lean forward and breathe normally. This will enable your stomach muscles to push the stool out without straining. Essentially, you are pushing from your waist. You should always respond to any sign that your bowels want to move. Delaying or putting off a bowel movement can aggravate constipation. No matter where you are, if you feel like your bowels want to move, find a bathroom.

Don’t let constipation get the better of you. Be proactive and take the necessary steps to keep you body’s digestive system in good health and running smooth.

Sudden Constipation: America’s New Epidemic?

A new Epidemic

It may seem silly to call the rise in gastrointestinal diseases caused by our affluent society an epidemic. Still, it can’t be denied that the human suffering, the work days missed and the health care expenses have many in our modern society yearning for the good old days.

Medical costs for digestive problems are estimated at 50 billion dollars a year. About 200,000 workers stay home from work every day because they are suffering from sudden constipation or diarrhea or some other digestive disturbance.

Are we Poisoning Ourselves?

A lot of adults will concur that they suffer from sluggish bowels. Many wholistic practitioners believe this toxic build-up in our colon is a form of autointoxication. This waste material that sits in our colons for far too long can, over time, cause many chronic degenerative diseases.

Then, there is a re-absorption into the bloodstream of all that waste that gets carried throughout the body.

Some of the results of this are chronic fatigue and body weakness, depression, nervousness, skin problems, ulcers, headaches, arthritic joints, swelling in the feet and hands- the list goes on.

You would think that any country that spends a cool billion dollars a year on antacids has a health concern going on.

Common Digestive Complaints

Let’s take a look at some of the ways that our bowels are complaining to us about our lifestyle.

Diarrhea – Although it’s a common symptom, it can develop for hundreds of reasons. Over use of laxatives, an adverse reaction to a medication, complications of diabetes and thyroid trouble and infection from contaminated foods or drink are some of the things that cause diarrhea. Irritable Bowel Syndrome – Doctors attribute this disorder to stress. It shows as bloating, abdominal discomfort, gas, diarrhea and sometimes-sudden constipation. This illness can stop making someone’s life miserable as fast as it began, with no real noticeable reason for this happening. Diverticular Disease – Little pouches that develop in the walls of the large bowel cause this. It can affect about ½ of the population of people over 50, but it doesn’t always have symptoms. When the little pouches get inflamed, there is pain, diarrhea or sudden constipation and fever. Surgery is a last resort, but might be necessary if diet changes and medications fail. Colitis – Nobody has found the cause of this inflammation of the colon. It usually shows up when people are in their 20’s and 30’s. Severe diarrhea, with blood and mucus in the stool and abdominal pain are symptoms. Medications can help, but most of the time surgery is needed.Crohn’s disease – This disease seems to affect young people, too. Stomachache, diarrhea and weight loss are signals of the disease. Some people can manage with medication, but most will need surgical intervention. Cancer – Any sudden change in bowel habit, such as sudden constipation should be looked into. There may also be persistent abdominal pain, weight loss and bleeding from the bowel. Colon cancer is on the rise, but is often cured if caught early.

Colon Cancer

Many report that sudden constipation is what alarmed them enough to go to a doctor. As colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer, people need to be clear about the importance of early treatment. If you are enjoying regularity and you develop sudden constipation, have it looked at by your doctor.

Other than sudden constipation you should never wait to see your physician if your bowel movements are black. This is often a sign of bleeding from somewhere.

If you or someone you know has a genetic predisposition to cancer, it is a good idea to make diet changes now. A diet that is high in meat, or high in fat and low in fiber is putting your health at risk.

Remember: people who are 50 years and over are at a higher risk of developing colon cancer, so any warning sign, such as sudden constipation, should have you making an appointment with your physician.

A Healthy Colon

If you’ve been eating a lot of unhealthy foods, a good colon cleansing might be in order. Many people are opting for a spring-cleaning of the colon and claim renewed vitality, better skin and nails and other health benefits because of it.

There is no need for taking any harsh, colon-cleansing regimes that have you sitting near the bathroom door. One product that is very gentle and uses natural oxygenated magnesium, germanium and citric acid to actually liquefy and clean out waste material is Oxy-Powder®. You may not suffer from sudden constipation, but if you’ve had bouts of constipation or sluggish movements, chances are you’ll want to do some cleansing. It is never too late to get your colon in tip-top shape.

Sex and Colon Cleansing

Are you constipated and feeling a little not interested in the bedroom? Does the thought of sex send your mind thinking about the bloated and sick feeling in your stomach? It’s no surprise that when you’re not feeling healthy, many of life’s joys can be left behind, and in many cases, it’s the sex drive that goes. We’re going to look at how a colon cleanse may be just what you need to clean up your act and get your love life back in gear.

When you’re constipated, there are many things going on inside your body that you may have no idea of. For example, if you’re not moving your bowels in a proper fashion, it can lead to a build-up of toxins that get re-absorbed into the bloodstream. As the toxins rush throughout your body, they send your systems into a frenzy. Your body is fighting the toxins so hard that other functions just can’t be handled. What happens is your immune system lowers, your digestive system is already wrecked and your sex drive suffers.

How to tell if YOU are Constipated

At any time, over 4 million Americans are suffering from constipation. To say it’s almost epidemic is an understatement! And those are the ones actually going to the doctor for it, not the people simply using over-the-counter treatments. What’s important to know is that you can be having bowel movements and still be diagnosed with constipation.

If you have two or less bowel movements in a week, you can be classified as constipated. If you have to strain, or have incomplete bowel movements 25% of the time you go, you are constipated. Likewise, if you experience black, small, hard and pebble-like stools, or thin pencil-sized stools, you’re constipated.

It’s important to understand that constipation is usually derivative of an underlying cause. It can be something as simple as an improper diet or as severe as diabetes. You need to be aware that you don’t get constipated for no reason. Blood sugar levels, diseases like diabetes and medications can all affect your digestive system in a negative way. These same reasons can also be adding to your sexual problems.

Study results show that people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) are over 4 times higher at risk to experience sexual health problems. Decreased sex drive was the most common complaint, and women were noted as experiencing pain during intercourse. It was also shown that the problems surfaced twice as much with constipation patients compared to diarrhea patients. Also, the worse the IBS, the lower the sex drive.

How to Get the Drive Back

Cleaning your colon can get rid of all the sludge and grime that is backing your system up and causing your libido to nosedive. It’s been proven that the average person has accumulated between 5 and 25 pounds of pure waste in the colon. Waste that never leaves. It just sits in there, putrefying. Right off the bat, imagine how much better you would feel if you cleansed 25 pounds of garbage out of your body!

Did you know that over 90% of all illness can be directly traced back to a dirty colon? The colon is where 70% of the body’s immune system does its work. If the colon is filled, the immune system is lacking and you’re getting sick. How much better would it be if your colon was clean and your immune system could fight the organisms it’s meant to fight instead of dealing with the toxins in your body?

Products like Oxy-Powder work wonders, effectively cleaning out the colon and getting rid of numerous years worth of build-up. Oxy-Powder’s powerful, yet gentle formula uses a combination of oxygenated magnesium, germanium and citric acid to naturally cleanse and detoxify your colon. It even promotes a healthy environment that allows good bacteria to flourish and aid in digestion.

With Oxy-Powder, you’ll notice a difference both inside and out. You’ll feel lighter, cleaner and simply healthier than ever on the inside. On the outside, you’ll have a much more vibrant look, a clearer complexion and your energy will be noticed by everyone. Your body is like a self-servicing machine. It has the ability to heal itself and avoid many illnesses, but that’s only if it’s healthy enough to do it. Removing the toxins from your body will allow it to work the way it’s supposed to.

Adding a proper exercise routine and changing your diet to include more fiber and water will help maintenance your clean, new system. A good diet should include 25 to 35 grams of fiber per day. Most Americans only get about 15 grams if they’re lucky. That adjustment alone can work wonders for your digestive system. A colon cleanse may be just the spark you need to re-ignite your life. You can say goodbye to constipation and hello to your partner again, in the bedroom!

Do You Have Chronic Constipation?

Having chronic constipation can lead to some serious diseases. The food you eat should move through your gastrointestinal system and colon easily and in a specific time. When digested food residues remain in your colon for days, your colon can becomes toxic. This toxicity can spread into every part of the body, but will normally flow into the weaker parts. In the bloodstream, these toxins interfere with the deliver of oxygen that goes to your cells and tissues.

If you have to strain and squeeze to have a bowel movement, you can damage the tissues in the lower part of your colon and the blood vessels in your legs. Chronic constipation can cause you to form hemorrhoids and enlarged blood vessels in either leg.

In 1908 Eli Metchnifoff, director of the Pasteur Institute, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine. His research showed that pathogenic colon bacteria or bad bacteria toxic secretions and their by products acted as slow poisoning of the entire body.

Metchnifoff believed that toxic matter coming from your colon was responsible for every degenerating disease. His belief was so strong that he suggested that man’s life span was certainly cut in half when his colon was neglected and allowed to have excessive toxic producing bacteria. Chronic constipation is an indication of having an excess of bad bacteria and toxins in your colon.

In 1931 Dr. Joseph H. Greer, was advising his patients what to do to eliminate chronic constipation and how to prevent it. Today, nutritionists and other health practitioners are telling their clients the same thing.

In his small book, The Drugless Road to Perfect Health, 1931, Joseph H. Greer, M.D. reminds his patients,

“You must have ‘roughage’ to make the bowels move freely. Concentrated food (processed foods) and constipation go hand in hand, (and) then pills (laxatives) are used. More constipation and more pills, it is a vicious circle with bad results.

Don’t be afraid of cracked wheat, cornmeal, cut oats, raw cabbage, onions and celery. They are far better than refined flour and the package foods that flood the market. They may save some labor in the kitchen, but they produce constipation.”

Naturopathic doctors and other alternative medicine practitioners now believe chronic constipation is a serious condition that cannot be ignored. Regular bowel movements keep your colon functioning efficient and healthy. To ignore constipation for long periods of time can lead to some serious illnesses and diseases. Mostly likely you will not live to be a ripe old age and if you do it will be with some undesirable disabilities.

Many doctors, for a longtime, have refused to believe that irregular bowel movements can cause other parts of the body to become weaken and unable to perform their function. You will still find Internet articles, anatomy books, and health books suggesting that for some people bowel movements in 3 days or more can be normal. To believe this is a big mistake and can cause you to believe your health is ok. Take responsibility for your health and don’t let chronic constipation become a reoccurring condition, which can shorten your life.

Help, Help Feeling Uncomfortable Symptoms of Constipation

Constipation is a condition in which the person has uncomfortable or infrequent bowel movements. Normally, a person is considered constipated when bowel movements result in passage of small amounts of hard, dry stools, usually fewer than three times a week.

For the fourth month of pregnancy, many women will notice that the functioning of your digestive system has slowed down and are more upset by the decreased frequency of defecation and its hardness.

Symptoms of Constipation:
* More than four days between bowel and another.
* The stools are hard and this makes them more difficult to get them moving in the gut.
* There is a feeling that is not finished emptying the bowel.
* If the stools are very hard, can cause bleeding in the rectum.
* Constipation can cause pain in lower abdomen
* In some cases a constipated bowel can cause problems during childbirth.

Treatment- There is several ways to help improve constipation:
* Eating a diet rich in fiber: Pursue a balanced diet that includes enough fiber (25 to 30 grams a day) is the most natural and effective way to get the uncomfortable symptoms of constipation disappear, or at least become milder. Fiber is very important because it pushes the intestines to work harder and yet absorbs fluid which helps make stools not harden.

Therefore, it is advisable to gradually increase the amount and frequency of consumption of foods rich in fiber. It should be noted that the input fiber has to be increased gradually so that the digestive system will adapt and avoid some intestinal discomfort and bloating or swelling.

* Fiber is present in foods of plant origin and is therefore particularly suitable consumption of vegetables, fresh and dried fruits, legumes, whole grains and nuts and derivatives. As a general rule it is advisable to consume all the vegetables except the flatulent as artichokes, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, peppers, cucumbers, radishes, onions, leeks … and all fruit except the astringent as quince, grapefruit, bananas … but, will have to assess individual tolerance, in order not to make the diet more strictly than necessary. Should take fresh fruit with skin, not forgetting to wash them thoroughly before eating, and is advised to take at least one salad a day.

* It is preferable for the pasta (macaroni, spaghetti …), bread, cookies and cereals are whole rather than refined, since the latter have significantly lower fiber content.

* It is beneficial to limit consumption of rice as a food is astringent, and whether to consume is preferably accompanied by vegetables, in salads or mixed with vegetables. The latter should be prepared with vegetables as with fatty foods often cooked like sausage, bacon or sausage contributes to worsening the evacuation.

* Drink plenty of water, if not getting enough liquid in the diet, the digestive process slows, can not do its job, the feces become hard and difficult to move.

There is no specific rule but recommends drinking at least 6 glasses of water per day which can be both water and mild teas, vegetable broths, juices (with pulp) … Drink as much water as you like. Addition and note that if you do not drink enough fluids when your diet is rich in fiber can worsen constipation.

Try these home remedies:
Take kiwi, orange juice or prunes rehydrated fasting
Just coffee or a glass of warm water fasting
Making applesauce and prunes in the morning,
Oat bran add to yoghurts,
Should eat slowly, chew food, and be regular with meal times.

Exercise: If you exercise like walking or swimming for about 30 minutes, you get to strengthen the intestinal muscles involved in defecation reflex. In addition this exercise will help in the time of delivery.

Listen to your body and never put off going to the bathroom when you feel like shit. It is important that in addition to carrying out these dietary guidelines, it is believed a good bowel habits, having a fixed schedule to go to the bathroom, so as to achieve educate the bowel.

Talk to your doctor about some other steps you can take if all else fails. It is likely that you get to recommend a mild laxative or a fiber supplement or stool softener. Remember; never take a drug without being prescribed by your doctor.

Hemorrhoids and Constipation Relief

If you have hemorrhoids, then mostly likely you are constipated. Here is what you can do to have a quicker bowel movement.

When go into the bathroom, go in there to have a bowel movement. Don’t take a newspaper to read because that keeps you in there longer. Sitting on the toilet puts pressure on your rectum and anal veins and eventually leads to hemorrhoids or aggravates the hemorrhoids you already have. So, you don’t want to sit there longer than necessary.

Start taking and using some of the constipation remedies listed in other newsletters and you will be having an easier time when you go to have a bowel movement.

I have updated my hemorrhoid e-book to include constipation remedies so that you have easy and quick bowel movement. Any straining you do is considered constipation and can lead to hemorrhoids later.

When sitting on the toilet, there are a few things you can do to help your stools to come out easier.

” Sit-up straight and lean back slightly

” Raise your arms up above you, this helps to stretch and move your colon

” Use a small stool to place your feet on to move your knees up a little bit. This takes off some of the pressure felt in your anal area.

” Move your stomach in and out to help move your colon

” Move side to side to stretch and move your colon

If you have a job where you have to sit all the time, get up and walk around every hour or as often as you can.

Exercise is necessary if you have hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are like extra skin or inflammation that accumulates around your anus. That area can become sensitive or painful to touch.

Exercise is called for in helping to get rid of hemorrhoids. A good daily fast walk is the best. Yoga is very helpful since it helps to stretch muscles, and revive circulation. Any exercise will be beneficial.

Check out my e-book on hemorrhoids, Hemorrhoid relief, if it does not help you, have a no questions asked refund for up to 8 weeks. You have plenty of time to see if my remedies work for you.

You can do all the things for preventing hemorrhoids and constipation, but if you do not exercise regularly, you are bound to get these aliments. So plan to exercise, it is good for life and not just good for hemorrhoids and constipation.

The other exercise that you can do is an anus exercise. Do this by pushing down like you are going to the bathroom and then pull back. Do this for a few minutes. This will help to build the tissue in that area. Yes I know, this is uncomfortable to do, but if you don’t do some of these exercises, then these hemorrhoids will get worst as time passes.

Keeping regular with easy flowing bowel movements and exercise regularly can help you reduce or even prevent hemorrhoids.

The Symptoms of Ibs

Irritable bowel syndrome, which is actually one of the most common disorders of the digestive tract, is a chronic condition affecting a person’s bowel. Although this type of disorder is pretty common, especially in countries such as America, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, some people still do not seem to know when they have IBS, and sometimes simply overlook its symptoms and leave it untreated.

Although a lot of people believe IBS to be psychological disorder, it is actually not, but rather, it is a physical disorder which mainly affects the large intestines, or the bowel. The bowel is responsible for storing or making stool, which are waste products that pass through the digestive system. This digestive disorder can develop at any age, but is usually first experienced between the ages of 15 and 40. Although there is no cure for IBS yet, there are ways and treatments that effectively control and eliminate the different symptoms that people with IBS may experience. It is important for people to be aware of IBS symptoms before attempting any form of treatment, especially since the symptom that they may be experiencing may not necessarily connected to IBS.

One of the symptoms of IBS is that people experiencing it can either have diarrhea or constipation. These symptoms usually are experienced by people with severe IBS, which is also accompanied by severe pain in the abdominal region. People who experience diarrhea usually get the urge to open their bowels, especially after eating meals, usually during breakfasts. Their stools usually have very watery and loose consistency, sometimes with small amounts of mucus-like substances. The person’s bowel movement may be very loose, making the person feel that he or she needs to use the stool every once in a while since the food particles passes too quickly through the digestive system, at least faster than normal.

People who experience the other symptom, which is constipation, experience the exact opposite of those who experience diarrhea. Their bowel movements usually are very constricted, making it very difficult for them to loosen their bowels. Their stools usually are hard and pellet-like in consistency. People who experience this may sometimes feel that they have not completely emptied their bowels after they have finished. This is due to the fact that food particles pass too slowly through the digestive system, making it difficult for them to empty their bowels.

Another more common symptom of IBS is abdominal pain, which is usually experienced by women in higher frequency, especially during their menstrual cycle. The pain can get mild or severe at times, and can recur during the day, especially at night.

Other symptoms include nausea, back and groin pain, depression, vomiting and indigestion, bloated abdomen, excess wind, even disturbed sleep due to constantly urinating.

These symptoms may be experienced by other people who may not necessarily have IBS, so it is important to consult with your doctor first before taking any form of treatment to address it.

Get a Clue About Your Health From Your Stool

Have you ever wondered why your poop looks like the way it does? If your answer is no, then you are one of the millions of people who do not know that the bowel is a very good indication of a person’s general well-being and the health of the gastrointestinal tract. Even doctors sometimes use the color, consistency, frequency and general appearance of a poop to have a better understanding of the medical condition of their patients.

Soft And Long

If you have a soft and torpedo-like stool then you should not worry. This is the normal and ideal-looking stool. This just means that you are eating enough fiber and drinking the right amounts of water to assist a hustle-free bowel movement.

Stinking Floaters

Stool that is soft and long but is floating and stinky might indicate an absorption problem. People who take certain types of weight loss pills usually have this kind of stool because the drug inhibits the absorption of fat. If you like fatty and fried foods that contain some types of fat substitutes, then you are also a candidate for having this kind of poop. However, if you have a poop like this even though you don’t take any weight loss pill or you are not fond of eating fatty snack foods, then you should visit your doctor and seek advice regarding your absorption woes.

Thin Stool

One indication that there is a tumor or some kind of growth inside your intestine is thin pencil-like stool. This growth can be a precursor to serious diseases, particularly colon cancer. If you see that your bowel movement is consistently thin, then you should seek medical help. It is always better to be sure than sorry.

Red Stains

If you see bright red stains in your bowel movement; do not panic immediately. Think about the things you have eaten within 40 hours. If you consumed red popsicles, beet or foods with red coloring, then these might be the reasons for the color. However, if you think that the red stains are blood, then you have to ask your doctor for advice. Something inside you might be bleeding, such as hemorrhoids or fissures from passing big and hard stools.

Pale Or Grey

Poop comes in different colors – yellow, brown, and green. Usually, these colors come from enzymes in your pancreas or liver, or these could be affected by the food that you eat. However, it is quite unnatural to see grey or pale-looking bowels. This may indicate a problem within your digestive system, such as pancreatic problems or a blockage in the liver or colon.

Tar-like

People who are taking iron supplements or vitamin supplements with iron usually have dark-colored excrement. If you are not taking any supplements with iron, then this may signal bleeding somewhere in your gastrointestinal tract, particularly the esophagus or stomach areas.

Hard And Dry

People who are constipated know that a hard and dry stool is extremely difficult to pass. If you have been consistently passing hard and dry stool, then you may be dehydrated or your diet lacks fiber. It is important to note that poop should not stay too long inside the colon. Because if they do, liquid in your stool will be re-absorbed, causing the hardening and drying of your bowel movement.

For people who are not keen about drinking enough water, you need to understand that your body needs enough water to perform certain functions. Your system is so resourceful that if there is not enough water, it will look for it in the most unlikely places, like your stool.

To get rid of constipation and other gastrointestinal problems, you need to make sure you consume not less than eight glasses of water, eat plenty of vegetables and fruits, and perform regular exercise. To jumpstart the cleansing of your colon, you can also try detoxification programs or colon cleansing products. One effective colon cleanse system is Colpurin. Constipation is primarily caused by what you eat and persons of all ages experience this at some point in their life. It is rapidly becoming a health hazard with over 4 million people suffering in the USA and the numbers are increasing on a daily basis. Two important factors that can help you keep a check on constipation are – a healthy diet, and ensuring the proper disposal of waste from our bodies. A healthy person with good eating habits should have a few bowel movements daily. That’s correct – Daily! Some people assume that it is okay if there are two or three bowel movements in a week and this is not normal and is harmful to you. Food waste needs to be moved out of colon regularly, and if muscle contractions restrict this process, it will putrefy in the system. Result: Toxicants produced get into bloodstream affecting other vital organs in your body. This condition is known as Alimentary Intestinal Toxemia or toxic colon; long term constipation can be fatal and can also rupture the colon.

Constipation can occur due to many reasons. If your body is dehydrated, your diet consists of fatty foods, sugary foods, refined flour and oily foods, not enough consumption of fruits and vegetables, fibers and fluids are negligible in your diet, or if you do not chew your food properly, drink alcohol, constipation can strike. Do not ignore the urge to move bowels, as waste will build up in your colon. Some medicines like antacids with aluminum content, antidepressants, anticonvulsants, blood pressure drugs, diuretics, simple pain killers, medications that are prescribed, can also irritate the colon, leading to irregular bowl movement. Long term constipation can lead to many other complications which can include cancer, and ulcerations. Excess mucus in the colon through intake of processed or junk food is a major cause for constipation. An instant reaction for most people is to reach for laxatives to help move the bowels without understanding that the improper or prolonged use of laxatives may lead to bleeding of the intestinal tract or that your body can become dependant on them and then you are unable to have a bowel movement without the assistance of a laxative.

Since long term constipation can cause a lot of dangerous ailments, it is important to make a colon cleans part of you routine, along with a fiber rich diet which would include fruits and vegetables, and water to assist with the re-hydration of the body.
